Swiss crypto asset management company 21Shares has appointed Russell Barlow from abrdn as CEO and Duncan Moir as president. abrdn is one of the largest asset management companies in the UK, managing nearly $650 billion in assets. 21.co announced a restructuring, spinning off its technology department into an independent company, 21.co Technologies, while still remaining under 21.co Holdings. Since mid-year, 21Shares' assets under management have increased by two-thirds, now exceeding $10 billion, partially reflecting the rise in cryptocurrency prices during this period. 21.co founders Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder will serve as co-chairs of 21Shares and will oversee the daily operations of the technology company. 21Shares has also internally promoted Andres Valencia to Executive Vice President of Investment Management.
