VELVET CAPITAL, a DEFI asset management protocol, was forced to temporarily shut down its website to prevent a large-scale phishing attack. Users reported abnormal activity on the trading platform on April 23, leading to an internal investigation and a cybersecurity alert advising investors to refuse all wallet connection requests to the app until further notice. The founder, Vasily Nikonov, announced the shutdown on Telegram, stating the site was undergoing maintenance and investigation. The website was confirmed to have been hacked before the official announcement, with transactions made on the platform since April 23 at 5:39 UTC potentially making users victims of cybercrime. Nikonov advised affected users to submit information on Discord for remediation, emphasizing that no user had reported losses as of 6:50 UTC.
