The U.S. Department of Justice says it held only 29,000 BTC as of March, far below market speculation.

On July 17th, according to documents obtained by cryptocurrency independent journalist L0la L33tz through the Freedom of Information Act, the U.S. Marshals Service holds far fewer Bitcoins than previously thought.

In its response, the Department of Justice revealed that as of March, the agency held only 28,988 Bitcoins, worth approximately $3.4 billion at current prices. This figure differs significantly from other market data sources:

· Arkham Intelligence estimates that various U.S. government departments hold nearly $25.0 billion worth of cryptocurrency assets.
· Bitcoin Treasuries data shows that the U.S. government should hold 198,012 $BTC (approximately $25.0 billion).
