According to the AXIOS website, three sources familiar with the matter revealed that U.S. Secretary of State Rubio and the foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom spoke yesterday and decided to set the de facto deadline for reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran at the end of August. If an agreement cannot be reached before the deadline, the three major European powers plan to initiate a "snapback" mechanism to automatically reimpose all sanctions lifted by the UN Security Council under the 2015 Iran agreement. Initiating the "snapback" mechanism takes 30 days, and Europe hopes to complete the process before Russia takes over as President of the UN Security Council in October. [Odaily Planet Daily]
