Who would have thought that, on the morning of the Ladies’ Wimbledon final, it would be two former line judges speaking for the millions, maybe even billions, of workers worldwide who are worried about their jobs. Talking to The Telegraph about their artful line judgments being replaced by a flat AI yelp, they echoed the warnings from big tech bosses about coming artificial intelligence-induced job losses. In May, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei said he believed that AI will lead to a white collar jobs apocalypse and told Axios that this could mean unemployment of up to 20%. A fortnight ago Ford’s CEO went even further – according to him, half of all white collar jobs could be knocked out by AI.
