On July 11, the Ethereum Foundation released the L1 zkEVM real-time proof standard on July 10, 2025, as the first step in its comprehensive adoption of zero-knowledge proof technology. The standard requires zkVM systems to achieve 128-bit security, complete the proof of 99% of mainnet blocks within 10 seconds, a proof size of no more than 300KiB, and no trusted setup. To support home verification, hardware costs should be controlled below $100,000.00 and power consumption should not exceed 10kW. This move aims to improve the security, activity, and censorship resistance of the Ethereum network, while laying the foundation for future native zk-rollups. Ethereum plans to complete the deployment of L1 zkEVM in less than a year. [Deep Tide TechFlow]
