Ethereum Mainnet to Launch L1 zkEVM, Significantly Enhancing Scalability

On July 11, Ethereum Foundation developer Sophia Gold stated that the L1 zkEVM is about to land on the Ethereum mainnet, which will greatly increase the Gas limit and achieve native zk-rollup support without sacrificing security, activity, and censorship resistance.

As a first step, the Ethereum Foundation's zkEVM team has proposed a realtime proving standard, with the goal of achieving local proof computation in office buildings and even some residences. Sophia expects that with the accelerated progress of multiple zkVMs, this goal is expected to be achieved before the Devconnect Argentina conference in November this year. She also stated that the future of the Ethereum execution layer has arrived.
