In war, your data can be a weapon. Protecting it is a humanitarian mission.

We spoke with Mauro Vignati from the @ICRC at WCS25 about the challenges on the digital front line.

His 3 key points on protecting the vulnerable online:

🛡️ Protect Civilian Data. The ICRC's main concern is protecting the sensitive data of people displaced by conflict. This data must be kept safe from misuse.

🌐 A Digital Red Cross. They are building a "digital emblem" to protect hospitals and aid workers from cyber attacks, just as the physical emblem does in the real world.

✅ Hope for Cooperation. Despite global tensions, all states recently agreed to apply international humanitarian law to cyberspace. There is a path forward.
