According to Wired, OpenAI has poached four senior engineers from competitors Tesla, xAI, and Meta, including former Tesla Software Engineering VP David Lau, who has joined the company's scaling team. The news was announced by OpenAI co-founder and scaling team lead Greg Brockman in an internal Slack message on Tuesday. Joining OpenAI along with David Lau are former xAI and X Infrastructure Engineering Director Uday Ruddarraju, xAI infrastructure engineer Mike Dalton, and Meta AI researcher Angela Fan. Dalton and Ruddarraju previously worked at Robinhood. At xAI, Ruddarraju and Dalton were both involved in building Colossus, a large supercomputer consisting of over 200,000 GPUs. [Foresight News]
