$Virtual just launched their Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP), a new coordination layer for AI agents.

ACP is like SWIFT for AI agents — letting them transact, communicate, and split up workflows across clusters to tackle complex tasks more precisely.

Here’s why this marks a turning point for DeFAI and what DeFAI agents you can use today👇

~~ Analysis by @davewardonline ~~

Three ACP-Integrated DeFAI Agents to Try

At launch, @virtuals_io is supporting dedicated ACP clusters — including the Autonomous Hedge Fund, a group of DeFAI agents supporting the core portfolio manager, @AIxVC_Axelrod.

While some of these agents were previously live, ACP now gives them agent-to-agent interoperability. Each can still be used standalone, and all are discoverable via Butler, a front-end interface that acts like an agent app store.

While there are many, here are three agents that particularly stood out to me:

@Mamo_agent — A savings agent by Moonwell, part of the Autonomous Hedge Fund. It optimizes yield on $USDC (6.5% APY) and $cbBTC (<1%).

@GigabrainGG — A market analytics and Hyperliquid trading agent within the Hedge Fund cluster. Offers alpha signals, vaults, and one-click trades.

Virgen Capital (by @VaderResearch) — An AI-native VC cluster built by $Vader, targeting pre-TGE tokens from the Virtuals Genesis launchpad. Runs fully on ACP via a Fund Manager Agent (VaderAI) supported by analyst agents for due diligence and market research. To join, stake $VADER — returns are distributed to stakers.

The Early Stage of DeFAI

Two categories of DeFAI agents are emerging: onchain assistants like @bankrbot and @HeyAnonai that handle bridging, swapping, and rebalancing via natural language; and signal/yield agents like GigaBrain and BasisOS that find alpha or automate yield.

It may feel like novelty outweighs utility, but the stakes are high meaning AI in DeFi needs to be cautious. There’s also the challenge of structuring blockchain data so agents can actually extract signal rather than contribute to noise.

Still, DeFi agents will likely become the default interface for navigating onchain — simplified, intelligent terminals.

Their rise also parallels wallet experimentation and mobile growth, reinforcing the wallet as browser, social layer, and onchain gateway. In that context, DeFAI agents feel like a natural evolution, smoothing out DeFi’s interface friction.

ACP slots cleanly into this — agents moving from isolated tools to coordinated systems, pointing toward a unified onchain OS.
