On July 7, according to The Fintech Times, Spanish banking group BBVA officially launched Bitcoin and Ethereum trading and custody services for its Spanish retail customers. The service is fully integrated into the BBVA mobile application, allowing customers to independently buy, sell, and hold crypto assets without relying on third-party platforms. BBVA uses its own custody infrastructure to ensure that assets are securely and directly controlled. This launch follows the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations and marks BBVA's third market to offer digital asset services, following Switzerland in 2021 and Turkey in 2023. It is also the first time it has offered these services to retail customers in its core market. Gonzalo Rodríguez, head of BBVA's retail banking, stated that the bank aims to provide customers with simple and easy-to-use digital solutions, supporting them in exploring the digital asset space. BBVA plans to add more crypto assets and tokenized products in the future. [Deep Tide TechFlow]
