Ripple CTO: Multiple Acquisition Deals Underway, Future $XRP Ledger Upgrade to Enhance "Programmability"
According to DL News, Ripple CTO David Schwartz revealed that the company is pursuing multiple acquisition deals, involving various stages from early to late. Schwartz pointed out that the current lack of interest from traditional financial institutions in crypto mergers and acquisitions creates a strategic acquisition window for Ripple.
Meanwhile, the technology team is upgrading the $XRP Ledger blockchain, planning to enhance "programmability" and launch lending protocols, but will maintain its focus on payment characteristics that distinguish it from general-purpose chains such as Ethereum.
In April of this year, the company acquired brokerage firm Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, and previously acquired custody company Metaco ($250.0 million) and Standard Custody.
