Roadarmor Rarity & Black $Sats
In the first chapter of the #Ordinals Handbook, @rodarmor talks about rare satoshis. The Ordinals Theory assigns IDs and a tracking rule to Bitcoin's smallest accounting unit: the satoshi.
When each individual satoshi has an identity, a lot of different stories arise automagically from this. Casey wanted to keep everything within the Bitcoin network, and not use outside data to asses the rarities of different satoshis. As such, he postulated the rodarmor rarity. These are $sats that immediately follow Bitcoin events.
- Uncommon Sat (first sat of every block)
- Rodarmor Rare Sat (first sat after a difficulty adjustment event)
- Epic Sat (first sat after a halving; one sold for 33 Bitcoin)
- Legendary Sat (first sat after a block in which a halving and a difficulty adjustment happen at once, first in around 2032~)
- Mythical Sat (first satoshi ever; locked forever. meant to be gazed upon, but never owned)
Where there's a beginning, there must be an end as well. Enter black sats.
Black $sats are symmetrical with the rodarmor rare $sats that Casey introduced. Where Casey's $sats mark the beginning of a new Bitcoin cycle (be it a block or a halving era), black $sats end it. Thus we have:
- Uncommon Black Sat (the last sat of every block)
- Black Rare Sat (last sat before a difficulty adjustment)
- Epic Black Sat (last sat before a halving event)
- Legendary Black Sat (last sat before a block in which a halving and a difficulty adjustment happen at once, first in around 2032~)
- Mythical Black Sat (the last Satoshi ever; the only mythical level Satoshi that can be owned in more than 100 years from now.)
