According to CoinDesk, Ethereum core developer Barnabé Monnot has proposed a new proposal to reduce the network's slot time from 12 seconds to 6 seconds, effectively doubling the number of blocks produced per minute. The idea is part of EIP-7782 and may be included in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade in 2026. If the proposal is implemented, it will shorten the time for three key consensus steps: block proposal (3 seconds), attestation (1.5 seconds), and aggregation (1.5 seconds). This would reduce the current 12 second cycle by 6 seconds. [Foresight News]
