Japanese company Metaplanet announced on Monday the latest purchase of 1,111 bitcoins, bringing its total holdings to 11,111 bitcoins. The purchase price for this batch was $106,408 per bitcoin. CEO Simon Gerovich stated that the company spent a total of $1.07 billion to acquire 11,111 bitcoins at an average price of $95,869 each. Based on current market prices, Metaplanet's bitcoin assets are valued at approximately $1.12 billion. This purchase occurred just one week after the company reached its end-of-2025 target of holding 10,000 bitcoins, making it the ninth largest corporate bitcoin holder, surpassing Coinbase. Previously, the company adjusted its targets to hold 30,000 bitcoins by the end of 2025, 100,000 by 2026, and 210,000 by 2027. Although Bitcointreasuries.net has not yet updated the latest data, this purchase may have pushed Metaplanet ahead of bitcoin miner Hut 8, which holds 10,273 bitcoins. Meanwhile, Metaplanet's stock listed in Tokyo fell 3.54% on Monday morning but has accumulated a 393% increase year-to-date.
