🧠 This Week’s OpenGov Reflections

We’ve noticed that within the ecosystem, there’s still significant demand for investment-style support. In other words, while some teams aren’t building public goods or fully open-source infrastructure, they are working on products that could drive meaningful on-chain activity for @Polkadot.

These early-stage teams often need funding and support. As DV voters, we hope the Treasury can also benefit from a project’s long-term success — which is why we frequently ask:

“Can some of the future revenue be shared back with the Treasury?”

But more often than not, teams respond by saying:
“Bringing activity to Polkadot is already a form of return.”

And to be fair — that’s not wrong. We’re starting to see two interpretations of what “returning value” means:

1️⃣ A direct financial return — such as @Bifrost's interest-bearing repayment model or revenue-sharing agreements.
2️⃣ An indirect ecosystem return — like increasing active users, wallet addresses, TVL, or on-chain engagement.

At this stage, we do recognize that the second type is still a valid and valuable form of return.

If a great product, funded by the Treasury, can bring real users to Polkadot and validate a successful model that attracts investor attention later on — that’s a positive feedback loop for the entire ecosystem.
