According to ChainCatcher and reported by Bitcoin.com, the French National Assembly recently rejected an amendment proposal regarding Bitcoin mining. The proposal suggested exploring the possibility of using France's surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining to optimize the operation of the nuclear power grid. The proposal was dismissed without discussion due to procedural issues, specifically based on Article 98 of the parliamentary rules. If passed, the proposal would have made France one of the few countries, following El Salvador and Bhutan, to incorporate Bitcoin mining into its national energy strategy. Analysts noted that similar proposals are unlikely to be resubmitted in the short term, as Bitcoin mining is still viewed as an environmental threat in France. The Assembly stated that the rejection was solely due to the form of the proposal and that a more concise amendment could be submitted in the future.
