Bitcoin developer Peter Todd is developing a mechanism that recommends Bitcoin Core nodes automatically disconnect from nodes that launch "scavenger" attacks on his Libre Relay software. Previously, Todd advocated increasing the Bitcoin Core default OP_RETURN data limit to nearly 4 million bytes, sparking controversy. Opponents have used "scavenger" software to masquerade as nodes to interfere with broadcasts, preventing the propagation of large data transactions. The new rule is scheduled to be introduced in October with Core v30, and Todd is intensifying countermeasures to defend his on-chain data scaling solution. (Protos)
