According to TechFlow, on June 6th, Decrypt reported that Meta's Oversight Board ordered the removal of an AI-generated fake video advertisement featuring Brazilian football legend Ronaldo. The ad misled users into participating in an online game called Plinko and made false profit promises. The board criticized Meta for failing to strictly enforce its anti-fraud policies, noting that despite the video being reported and having over 600 thousand views, it was not dealt with promptly. This incident highlights the platform's inadequate control over celebrity AI-generated fake content. Previously, Jamie Lee Curtis also publicly questioned Zuckerberg over similar issues. Recently, US President Trump signed the "Take It Down Act," requiring platforms to remove AI-generated images without consent within 48 hours to address the growing abuse of deepfakes.
