We are rebranding "MetaLeX OS" to "BORGs OS"—this feels right for a number of reasons:
(1) the "BORG" concept was pioneered by @lex_node while at @delphi_labs and predates MetaLeX as a company—it should be an independent concept like "DAO" rather than too closely associated with our particular company (see https://t.co/mkPese9tW8)
(2) there are other great teams/companies building under the "BORG" label, such as @LayerOnEth / @JakeHartnell; a recent piece from @a16zcrypto / @milesjennings recognized BORGs as an emerging new category (see https://t.co/UUdsEp42aV), and even the UK government has recognized BORGs (see https://t.co/Pp8Hr1hxl3)
(3) BORGs OS (https://t.co/AUkBSoZjhA) is free open-source and we hope others contribute to it
(4) MetaLeX currently is most focused on the part of our roadmap we used to call "bizBORGs"—onchain business entities with tokenized securities—but which we are now calling "cyberCORPs". Our cyberCORPs tech is currently more 'in beta' & closed source, and has a different roadmap & broader audience. It feels appropriate to draw a clear distinction so that people can more easily tell what software, services, and products they are dealing with—the cypherpunk pure open source part of our platform, vs. the more RWA-focused side
We will continue offering products/services on top of BORGs OS, as MetaLeX—but we hope we will just be one of many doing so and are actively discussing some exciting integrations.
