Another weekly update is now live! 05/23/2025

After a highly successful Avalanche Summit 🔺, our team is back on track and preparing the next phase of Domi Online.

We’re committed to providing weekly updates as a transparent way to showcase our studio’s ongoing progress. Keeping our community informed, engaged, and part of the journey every step of the way!

⚙️Networking Team Update:

This week was mostly focused on bug fixes, including the return of the dreaded SyncType desync issue. Priority issue still being worked on.

We also expanded the culling system to support multiple distance thresholds, unlocking some exciting performance features. For example, entities far from the player can now be dynamically swapped with low-res versions or unloaded entirely, saving memory and processing power. This is very important for future support on lower-spec platforms.

This system will later extend to other object types like meshes, terrain chunks, and vegetation, and will play a key role in the upcoming multi-server architecture (aka the Agent System).

Next week, we’ll continue hunting down bugs and resume migrating client-side persistent state updates to the server.

📜Completed Tasks:
- Fix entities do not detach properly when the controller is disposed through GC,
- Fix null ref when getting users in fast mode,
- Fix null ref when WorldMapV2 is starting in the Sandbox scene,
- Fix player death loot doesn't despawn after timeout,
- Fix some loot container gameobjects remain deactivated (even though they are in range),
- Fix final strike on enemies does not call OnDamaged event,
- Implement multilevel culling

🎮Content Team:

This week, we have been diving into soft body and cloth physics.

Our main focus has been on improving the appearance of capes, which we have held back from introducing as monster drops due to how underwhelming they looked in earlier builds.

With better physics, we are aiming for a much more appropriate visual worth grinding for!

We are also exploring some of the exciting features in Unity 6, looking at ways to enhance the overall visual quality of the game.

One highlight is water reflections, which we hope will make your arrival into the world of Domi Online feel even more vibrant and alive!
