According to TechFlow, on May 25, Cointelegraph reported that Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov was originally scheduled to attend the Oslo Freedom Forum held in Oslo, Norway. However, a French court has denied his request to leave the country. The organizer, the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), stated that Durov will deliver his keynote speech via live online streaming.
Durov previously publicly accused Nicolas Lerner, head of French intelligence agencies, of requesting him to block conservative political content before the Romanian presidential election. Durov refused to comply and described the move as "undermining democracy in the name of democracy."
He emphasized that Telegram will not censor political speech in any market and stated that if faced with forced censorship pressure, the platform would choose to exit the relevant market. He said, "We have not blocked protesters in Russia, Belarus, or Iran, and we will not do so in Europe either."
