Amber Hardfork Mainnet Deployment
Last month, we rolled out a major update to Kopli Testnet with the introduction of our Amber Hardfork, which brings some big changes to the network. Now, after a successful deployment, we're ready to roll out the Amber Hardfork to Reactive Mainnet, which will arrive tomorrow at block 902655 - approximately 9:00 AM UTC on Tuesday, May 20th.
To find out more about what will change with Amber and why it's needed, let's take a quick recap:
Why do we Need a Hardfork?
Some of you may be familiar with a concept we've talked about for some time, which we're now calling the Sequencer (previously referred to as the Relayer Network).
The Sequencer is a component that acts as an oracle between Reactive Network and its connected blockchains, serving as a proxy that listens for on-chain events, packages them, and relays them to relevant Reactive Smart Contracts.
The Sequencer:
1️⃣ Enables new blockchain integrations to Reactive Network without the need for a hardfork.
2️⃣ Streamlines node operations and reduces overhead for developers.
3️⃣ Creates the foundation for future decentralization, such as launching a full validator program, allowing individual users to participate in securing the network.
What does this mean for $REACT holders?
REACT holders will be unaffected by this change, so there's no need to take any action.
