BitVM, explained.
TL;DR 👇
– BOB uses BitVM to power a trust-minimized Bitcoin bridge, letting users deposit and withdraw $BTC from the Hybrid L2 without trusting a third party.
– Before BitVM, this wasn’t possible. Most Bitcoin bridges rely on trusted multisigs.
– For the first time in Bitcoin’s history, there’s a practical blueprint, co-authored by BOB co-founder @AlexeiZamyatin.
HOW IT WORKS
BitVM enables off-chain program execution with on-chain dispute resolution. That means:
– The L2 verifies Bitcoin
– Bitcoin verifies the L2
– Deposits can’t be stolen as long as one honest node exists, even if it’s the depositor.
BRIDGE
BOB’s BitVM bridge was designed specifically for Bitcoin Secured Networks (BSNs), in collaboration with @babylonlabs_io and @fiamma_labs.
NOTE
By using Bitcoin finality via Babylon staking, BOB inherits Bitcoin security, without needing to solve for Bitcoin’s high data availability costs.
