T-Rex is a Web3 consumer entertainment protocol that recently completed a $17 million pre-seed funding round, bringing its total funding to $17 million. Investors include Portal Ventures, North Island Ventures, Framework Ventures, and Arbitrum Gaming Ventures. T-Rex aims to reward users with cryptocurrency for content consumption on platforms such as X, TikTok, and YouTube. Users need to download a browser extension that uses zero-knowledge transport layer security technology (zkTLS) to protect privacy, while earning points by clicking the “popcorn” icon in the corner of the screen. These points can be exchanged for cryptocurrency rewards. The system can also recommend decentralized applications or content based on user preferences. T-Rex plans to launch the browser extension by late summer this year and onboard over 100 content creators by the end of the year to expand media and intellectual property collaborations. The project is developed by the Asian publisher and venture capital firm Everest Venture Group and is built on Arbitrum Orbit.
