Coinbase Publishes Over 10 Thousand Pages of Regulatory Documents, Revealing Internal Disputes within the SEC

Foresight News reports that Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal tweeted that Coinbase has disclosed over 10 thousand pages of previously unreleased documents obtained from government regulatory agencies through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The documents reveal:

• In 2019, SEC emails acknowledged a "regulatory gap in cryptocurrency";
• In 2023, the New York Attorney General's Office requested SEC support in classifying $ETH as a security in the KuCoin case, to which the SEC did not respond;
• In 2023, the SEC was unable to open the video of Coinbase's response to the Wells Notice due to technical limitations.
