Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digitization has suspended the operational license of the World project, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, due to alleged violations of electronic system operation regulations. The ministry stated it will summon World’s local operators in Indonesia, PT. Terang Bulan Abadi and PT. Sandina Abadi Nusantara, for clarification. Preliminary investigations found that PT. Terang Bulan Abadi was not registered as an electronic system operator and did not hold a valid operational license, with the project using the license of another legal entity. The ministry described such violations as serious. This incident occurred as Worldcoin had just announced plans to launch $WLD token distribution in six U.S. cities. Previously, World’s launches in other countries had also raised concerns regarding data privacy and protection. The Block has reached out to World for further comment.
