The World project, supported by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is dedicated to human identity verification through cryptographic technology and has announced launches in six U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. Users receive WLD tokens upon identity verification. The project aims to distinguish real humans from AI bots and already has about 26 million users. World plans to launch a Visa payment card supporting spending with WLD tokens and is collaborating with Match Group to pilot identity verification for Tinder users in Japan. Additionally, users can access the prediction market Kalshi via the World App. World verifies identity through an electronic Orb that scans the eyeball, pledging not to store biometric data to protect privacy. A mini Orb will be introduced in the future, targeting 1 billion users, and a partnership with gaming company Razer will provide human verification services. The project is developed by Tools for Humanity, co-founded by Altman and CEO Alex Blania.
