🚀 Here’s the lowdown from our latest presentation among 21 other zkVMs fresh from @eth_proofs Call #1
Unveiling NovaNet, a cutting-edge zkVM built on NIVC folding!
From Nova to SuperNova to NeutronNova, we’ve engineered a WASM-based proof network that’s redefining zero-knowledge proofs.
NovaNet shines with two powerful use cases:
1⃣ Top-down: Parallelize massive proving tasks across multiple machines, breaking them into manageable chunks
2⃣ Bottom-up: Aggregate privacy proofs efficiently and post them on-chain with minimal overhead
Why is folding so critical? It’s the backbone of NovaNet’s innovation:
☑️ Decentralization: Adjustable step sizes let both tiny devices and beefy servers join the network, fostering inclusivity
☑️ Liveness: Incremental verifiable computation means you can pause proving midway, and anyone can verify - no restarting needed, unlike monolithic systems
☑️ Efficiency: Folding delivers the lowest overhead for continuations in the literature, committing only to the proof’s width
Privacy? NovaNet’s got you covered 🤝
Unlike most zkVMs, we’re private by default. A clever trick from the updated HyperNova paper lets us achieve pure ZK with just one fold. Plus, our on-chain verifier is a lean beast, posting proofs with ~150,000 gas 💸
NovaNet’s NIVC design also enables pay-per-opcode proving, inviting specialized provers like Jolt to join the party. Jolt proofs can integrate via real-time folding or continuations (shoutout to Justin’s latest paper), running across machines for ultimate flexibility
Looking ahead, we’re skipping hash-based schemes. Instead, we’re charging toward:
🔹NeutronNova: A 10x speedup on Nebula, with benchmarks dropping soon. It may trail Starkish systems slightly but sets the stage for big gains
🔹NEO: Lattice-based for long-term promise and quantum resistance
Best part? NovaNet is fully open source! Dive into the zkEngine (links in bio) and try it in your browser. WebGPU support is coming soon, too!
