U.S. federal prosecutors will continue to prosecute former SafeMoon CEO Braden John Karony, despite a memorandum from the U.S. Department of Justice recommending the abandonment of "prosecutorial regulation" of digital assets. Karony is accused of securities fraud, conspiracy to commit telecommunications fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering, along with the illegal misappropriation of SFM tokens from the SafeMoon platform between 2021 and 2022. Although Karony's legal team claims that the $Trump administration may change the enforcement policy of securities laws, the court has denied the request to delay the trial and plans to begin jury selection on May 5.
