The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it will hold a roundtable discussion on cryptocurrency custody with industry insiders such as Kraken, Exodus, and Anchorage Digital. The meeting will be hosted by SEC Commissioners Hester Peirce and Caroline Crenshaw, acting chair Mark Uyeda, and the chief of staff of the cryptocurrency working group, Richard Gabbert. Participants include Mark Greenberg, Vice President of Kraken; Rachel Anderika, Chief Risk Officer of Anchorage Digital Bank; and Veronica McGregor, Chief Legal Officer of Exodus. Other representatives come from WisdomTree, Fidelity Digital Asset Services, and Fireblocks. Discussion topics will include custody issues for broker-dealers and investment companies. Since the approval of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds in January 2024, there has been an increase in demand for digital asset custody in the U.S. Since President Trump took office, the SEC appears to have adopted a more favorable direction for the cryptocurrency industry.
