Netflix director Karl Eric Lindsh was charged with wire fraud and money laundering, allegedly using $11 million in funds from Netflix for cryptocurrency trading and luxury spending. Lindsh reached an agreement with Netflix in 2018 for $44 million to produce the science fiction television series "White Horse." In early 2019 and 2020, he requested an additional $11 million, which was transferred to his company account on March 6, 2020. Prosecutors allege that he transferred the funds into a personal brokerage account for speculative securities trading, losing more than half of the money within two months. He then turned to cryptocurrency trading and made luxury purchases, including credit card payments, legal fees, luxury hotel stays, furniture and antiques, luxury cars, as well as luxury watches and clothing. Lindsh is charged with one count of wire fraud, one count of money laundering, and five counts of financial transactions involving criminal proceeds. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
