🚨 Big news! JAM Tour – East & South Asia Edition is finally here, with 6 stops in China! 🚀
Curious about what JAM is? Wondering what the JAM Tour offers? Here’s everything you need to know, plus how to sign up! 👇
1⃣ What is JAM?
JAM is a groundbreaking evolution of the @Polkadot RelayChain. While Polkadot already has most of JAM’s features, JAM unleashes its full potential.
In simple terms, JAM is a trustless supercomputer. It’s a virtual machine capable of running computer code, like a high-performance, multi-core system. It’s “super” because of its powerful computing capabilities, large storage, and decentralized nature — no middlemen needed to use it.
Think of JAM as the Web3 cloud — but unlike traditional cloud platforms, it combines decentralization with high performance and resilience.
Still not sure what JAM is? You can think of it as a blend of Polkadot and Ethereum 1.0, bringing @gavofyork’s 2015 vision of the “World Computer” closer to reality. JAM’s multi-core model with “near-consistent” shared state allows data to flow freely while maintaining decentralization and high efficiency.
As Gavin puts it, JAM embodies Web3 principles: balancing size, coherence and resilience to build a more robust foundation for decentralized applications.

2⃣ What is the JAM Tour?
The JAM Tour is part of @gavofyork’s mission to bring cutting-edge Web3 technologies to developers worldwide.
“It’s my responsibility to ensure these ideas reach more developers,” he said.
Instead of waiting for developers to come and explore, Gavin actively seeks to bring the knowledge and tools directly to them.
Since releasing the JAM Gray Paper in April 2024—exactly 10 years after the Ethereum Yellow Paper — Gavin has toured top universities in 7 countries, including:
• University of Buenos Aires
• University of Cambridge
• Stanford University
• University of Zurich
• University of Tokyo
• Seoul National University
• National University of Singapore
The tour aims to demystify JAM, making it accessible not only to top researchers but also to everyday developers.
To encourage innovation, Gavin has also established one of the largest tech development grants in history — a prize pool of 10 million DOT and 100,000 KSM, valued at tens of millions of dollars.

3⃣ What’s included in the JAM Tour?
The event will feature a comprehensive lecture by Gavin Wood, explaining key sections of the JAM Gray Paper. If you’re curious, check out previous tour recordings here: https://t.co/NN4hpMnh2Z
Oh, and don’t forget — you’ll likely snag a signed copy of the Gray Paper from Gavin Wood himself! 👀
4⃣ Who should attend?
• Developers with a technical background
• Students in computer science or programming
• Crypto researchers familiar with blockchain or Polkadot
