According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on March 13, Democratic senators in the United States gathered to discuss the temporary funding bill passed by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives (the Senate requires 60 votes to advance this bill, with the Republican seats in the Senate totaling 53), while only two days remain before a partial government shutdown. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer urged an extension of the current spending for one month to allow time to complete a more comprehensive funding bill this year, but this strategy is unlikely to succeed.
Schumer warned that 47 Democratic senators unanimously oppose the six-and-a-half-month funding bill passed by the House, with only one Democrat in the House voting in favor. In a brief speech to the Senate, Schumer stated, "I hope our Republican colleagues can join us in avoiding a shutdown on Friday." Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin remarked that if they decide to shut down the government, it will be 100% Schumer's decision to do so."
