“Dreaming my queen through the machine in my Hollywood studio.” Grails I artist @thesarahshow is digitally dreaming of her queen, which in this case, is the namesake of “Dream Loaf” – her cat. Originally created in 2021 using a digital photo collage through VQGAN + Clip, Zucker has created a surreal siamese cat perched on top of Capital Records. Eccentric, offbeat and addictive, Zucker’s work has hypnotically captured the hearts and minds of art lovers all over the world.
Zucker is an artistic muti-hyphenate, originally beginning her creative career as a screenwriter and photographer. Fans of Zucker also fondly recall her stint on Jeopardy. What can’t she do? Zucher’s ideological pursuits explore a glorious mix of art and science, constantly experimenting with hardware and software to create an amusing and often nostalgic feedback loop of spectacular images. “There are so many ancient mystical properties of art in every culture around the world referencing feedback loops. Feedback is my main defining visual motif that I use in my work. “
Since Zucker minted her first NFT in April of 2019, her work has been recognized as an influential exploration in the relationship between “us” and the pixel. Often, she will literally film the screen her work has been produced on. Capturing the computer monitor creates very specific feelings and perhaps a kind of digital aura in her work. Even with her recent series, “Strabismus,” we see Zucker examine her own experiences of depth and visual distortion. “What is interesting about working with analog gear, there is no saving. I view my practice as channeling. There is symbiosis between me and the machines. The work, the decisive moment, it’s very much about what I channel in the moment.”
