🤖 @ilyasut, former chief scientist and co-founder of @OpenAI, has raised $1 billion for his new startup, Safe Superintelligence Inc. (@ssi), which has just 10 employees.
Despite its small size, SSI is valued at $5 billion and has secured backing from major investors like NFDG, a16z, Sequoia, and DST Global.
The company’s goal is to develop a single AI model that is smarter than humans while ensuring it’s safe.
Sutskever left OpenAI in June 2024, reportedly due to internal disagreements, and has since focused on advancing AI safety with SSI.
What makes SSI different from OpenAI and Anthropic is its mission to build one superintelligence, a type of AI with far greater cognitive abilities than humans.
While OpenAI and Anthropic offer popular products like ChatGPT and Claude, SSI is aiming for something even more advanced.
With $1 billion in funding, the question remains whether SSI will develop the first true superintelligence or create a powerful competitor in the AI landscape.
We believe exciting AI innovations are coming to the world of blockchain. Of course, adoption should start with the mother chain, Bitcoin, before expanding to other platforms.
