A lot of Web3 CDN approaches talk about “decentralizing” the CDN. But that’s old news. Peer-to-Peer networks (P2P) decentralized the CDN architecture decades ago. P2P networks are powerful architectures, much like Blockchain, because they have infinite scalability (well until we run out of places to install the P2P client software). So why then don’t streaming platforms use P2P instead of commercial CDNs? It’s all about security. CDN caches are controlled and maintained by a network operator, P2P nodes are not.
