User Joe Zhou shared his insights on "The Dao, Bitcoin, Internal Skills, and Zen Meditation" on Tako: he rediscovered in meditation the idea that "to learn is to increase day by day, but to follow the Dao is to decrease day by day"—skills should be numerous, but the Dao should be simple. Zen meditation and the practice of the Dao focus on breathing and sitting, while everything else is derivative. Bitcoin is like the Dao, while altcoins are akin to skills; the former is the foundation, and the latter consists of layers of assumptions and leverage.
In life, people often add leverage to themselves, pursuing skills while forgetting the Dao. He cites Guo Jing as an example, whose external skills are complex but not as effective as internal skills, which encompass the practices of breathing, sitting meditation, and sleep. He emphasizes that foundational practice is superior to external accumulation, and both Bitcoin and Zen meditation embody this idea.
Pursuing complexity can lead one to lose sight of fundamentals; it is essential to balance the "Dao" and "skills" and appreciate the value of "quieting oneself."
