If you've been watching Squid Game's second season, you'll be familiar with the crypto scam storyline. In it a contestant bluntly states, “People see what they want to see.”
It's a snapshot of human psychology, particularly when presented with the allure of quick, large gains. No matter how many disclaimers, alerts, or warnings are presented, there will always be those who convince themselves that it’s worth the risk. Greed overrides logic - a mindset that's all too familiar to crypto platforms.
And so measures that limit the damage of making bad decisions, like systems that protect users from dangerous transactions, that monitor for fraud and offer warranty-backed protection, aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential.
As much as we’d like to believe that education and innovation are enough, there will always be those who think they can beat the game. The question the industry needs to be able to answer is, how well prepared are we for when they lose?
