Odaily Planet Daily reported that Eli Ben-Sasson, co-founder and CEO of StarkWare, stated on the X platform the next phase goals for Starknet. He indicated that Starknet is set to become the first network to settle simultaneously on both Bitcoin and Ethereum. If OP_CAT is delayed or not adopted, alternative paths will be pursued, including BitVM, ColliderScript, operations simulated through Taproot, and trust-minimized sidechains. Additionally, the new STARK prover, Stwo, is expected to launch on the Starknet and StarkEx mainnet in the second quarter of 2025, promising significantly faster client proofs for gaming, DeFi, and more, anticipated to be 940 times faster than the current prover.
Eli Ben-Sasson also mentioned that Starknet is working to optimize its execution environment through Cairo-Native, which will transition from a virtual machine-based simulation to native execution, thereby significantly improving processing speed and resource efficiency. Currently, the first phase of STRK staking has surpassed 160 million tokens, with over 60 thousand STRK holders participating, marking an important step in Starknet's decentralization journey. In the future, efforts will continue to make the core components of the Starknet stack fully open-source, including the next-generation sequencer. Frameworks are currently being built and contributed for developers to create cross-game and DeFi AI agents. Furthermore, the goal for 2025 includes launching over 30 dApps on Starknet.
