Wu learned that, according to Aastocks, the Macau International Carbon Emission Trading Exchange (Macau Carbon Exchange) has announced the completion of Brazil's first blockchain-based International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) transaction for residential photovoltaic power. The green certificate corresponds to electricity generated from residential photovoltaic projects in Paraná State. This marks the first I-REC green certificate transaction facilitated by the Macau Carbon Exchange, and it leveraged blockchain technology, reducing the time from electricity information registration to green certificate transaction to about one week, significantly shorter than traditional processes. The I-REC green certificate was registered by REDEX and issued by the Green Certificate Company (GCC), which is a central issuer recognized by the I-REC standard. The full name of the green certificate is the Green Power Certificate, which serves as the electronic identity card for renewable energy green power and is an important tool for achieving carbon neutrality and reducing carbon emission costs.
