The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is detaining the import of Bitmain's Antminer ASIC miners, potentially due to the relationship between Sophgo chips and Huawei. Seven U.S. Bitcoin mining companies have anonymously stated that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) instructed the CBP to detain Bitmain's ASIC miners. Other Chinese ASIC miner manufacturers, such as MicroBT and Canaan, have not faced the same treatment. Some shipments have been detained for up to two months at ports such as San Francisco and Detroit, involving the Antminer S21 and T21 models. Although the CBP has acknowledged the detentions, it has not provided reasons or a timeline for release. Sophgo is under scrutiny for allegedly supplying chips to Huawei, and Bitmain's Antminer T21 and certain S19 models utilize Sophgo chips.
