Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, expressed his appreciation for this, stating that the Polygon team has won the race, with a processing speed equivalent to 62 million Merkle tree hash calculations per second, sufficient to re-hash the maximum theoretical consensus state of Ethereum within a single slot.

PANews reported on October 31 that Daniel Lubarov, co-founder of Polygon, stated on the X platform that its zero-knowledge proof system Plonky3 can now process over 2 million Poseidon2 hash operations per second. This advancement is largely attributed to memory optimizations, including avoiding data duplication, skipping zeroing operations, and merging FFT steps to keep content in the cache.

In response, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin remarked: "The Polygon team has won this race, with a processing speed equivalent to 62 MB of Merkle tree hash calculations per second, which is sufficient to re-hash the maximum theoretical consensus state of Ethereum within a single slot."
