Vast Space, an aerospace startup founded by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb, has announced its plans for a successor to the International Space Station. The company aims to establish a low Earth orbit laboratory named "Haven-2" that will allow visitors to conduct microgravity research and serve as a destination for NASA to send astronauts as an international partner. Vast Space's long-term vision is to launch the first module of "Haven-2" into space and have it fully operational by 2028.

Odaily Planet Daily reported that Vast Space, an aerospace startup founded by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb, has unveiled its plans for the successor to the International Space Station, joining companies such as Blue Origin, founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

"Haven-2" will serve as a dedicated laboratory in low Earth orbit, allowing visitors to conduct microgravity research. It will also become a destination for NASA's international partners to send astronauts.

The company's long-term vision is for the first module of "Haven-2" to enter space and be fully operational by 2028, prior to the International Space Station's decommissioning and deorbiting in 2031. Vast CEO Max Haot stated, "We have chosen this ambitious timeline and strategy as a way to disrupt the industry and win the competition." (Bloomberg)
