A crypto investor reportedly lost $36 million in a permit phishing scam, where the attacker tricked the user into signing a malicious signature, giving them full access to the victim's funds. The attacker immediately sold the tokens, causing the price of dETH to crash by over 90% within 24 hours. The incident has also affected decentralized finance protocols, PAC Finance and Orbit Finance. Permit phishing scams exploit a requirement in certain DeFi tokens or contracts for users to approve permit signatures, granting third parties access to their wallets. Experts are urging users to be cautious when interacting with unfamiliar links or signing transaction permissions.
