More than twenty residents of Granbury, Texas, have filed a lawsuit against the cryptocurrency mining company Marathon Digital, claiming that the noise emitted from Marathon's local Bitcoin mining facility constitutes a "nuisance," causing "extreme discomfort and distress" to residents near the mine. The plaintiffs pointed out that due to the "constant" noise and vibrations from the Marathon site, some residents have suffered from "sensory, emotional, psychological, and health impacts." Some locals have experienced fatigue, headaches, memory issues, hearing loss, migraines, and tinnitus. The organization stated that some residents' pre-existing health conditions, such as high blood pressure, have also worsened. The lawsuit claims, "Even in their own homes, residents can hear the noise from MARA Cryptomine and feel its vibrations." It further added that Marathon's mining site "seriously interferes with the plaintiffs' members' private use and enjoyment of their property." The organization also stated that the energy usage from Bitcoin mining operations has led to "increased electricity bills and a decrease in property values." (Cointelegraph)
