Lufthansa and Deutsche Telekom have launched blockchain nodes on the $Peaq network, marking a significant step in the adoption of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs). These networks, which bridge the physical and digital worlds, use cryptocurrencies to incentivize participation and enhance the security and operation of infrastructure systems. The launch by Lufthansa, Deutsche Telekom, and other partners like Bertelsmann Investments and the Technical University of Munich, represents a combined valuation of over $170 billion. The $Peaq network, a layer-1 blockchain designed for DePIN and machine real-world assets, is set to go live the week of Sept. 23. This move is seen as crucial for the decentralization of the blockchain and the overall growth of the DePIN sector, which is expected to attract significant enterprise and Web3 integration.
