Bitzlato founder Anatoly Legkodymov, linked to over $700 million in illicit crypto transactions through the Russian dark web, will not face additional jail time. After serving 18 months in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre, a New York District Court judge deemed it sufficient punishment. Legkodymov pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business and agreed to forfeit $23 million in seized crypto assets. The global sting operation involved multiple countries and led to the shutdown of Bitzlato on January 23, 2023.
