Confidential computing and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) are poised to unlock significant capital in the cryptocurrency market, potentially reaching $1 trillion. Remi Gai, founder of Inco, highlighted during the FHE Summit 2024 that these technologies could facilitate mass institutional adoption by enabling more applications and maintaining privacy in Web3. Gai emphasized that confidential computing could attract both institutional and retail liquidity, enhancing participation and increasing the overall market size. This advancement is crucial as it addresses the need for private states in decentralized finance (DeFi) and could serve as the blockchain equivalent of the internet's secure sockets layer (SSL).
