A hacker claimed to have stolen sensitive call and text records from the U.S. telecom company AT&$T and stated that they received about 400 thousand dollars in Bitcoin as payment to delete this data. Bloomberg reported that after analyzing the Bitcoin wallet address provided by the hacker, a transaction in mid-May was found to match the ransom payment. A person familiar with ransomware negotiations confirmed that AT&$T paid the amount to the hacker, but it is currently unclear if the payment was made through a third party.
